Privacy policy
Izlio is a clipboard history manager for macOS, made by an independent developer. This policy explains what data Izlio handles and how.
The short version
Izlio stores your clipboard history on your own device. There is no account, no sign-in, and no server that your clipboard content is sent to. We don't collect, sell, or share your data, because we don't have access to it in the first place.
What Izlio stores, and where
When you copy something, Izlio saves a local record of it — text, links, images, files, or colors — along with a few details needed to make that history useful:
- The content itself (or, for images and files, a reference to a copy stored in your device's Application Support folder)
- The name of the app you copied it from
- The date and time
- Any tags, pins, or workspace you've assigned to it
All of this is stored in a local database on your Mac, inside your user account's Application Support folder. It never leaves your device. Izlio does not operate a server, and no clipboard content is transmitted anywhere.
Sensitive content
Izlio detects certain content types (such as passwords or other sensitive-looking text) and blurs them by default in the history view. This detection happens entirely on your device.
What we don't do
- We don't require an account or any personal information to use Izlio
- We don't run analytics or tracking of any kind
- We don't use advertising, and there are no third-party ad networks in the app
- We don't transmit your clipboard history off your device
Permissions Izlio requests
macOS requires explicit permission for certain features Izlio uses:
- Accessibility access — needed to detect your global keyboard shortcut and to paste content into other apps on your behalf
- Login item registration (optional) — if you enable "Launch at Login," macOS registers Izlio to start automatically
These permissions are granted through macOS System Settings, not through Izlio itself, and can be revoked there at any time.
Future sync features
If Izlio introduces optional cloud sync in the future, it will be clearly opt-in, will use end-to-end encryption so that your data is unreadable to us, and this policy will be updated in advance of that feature shipping. Nothing about your local-only usage will change unless you explicitly choose to enable sync.
Data deletion
Since your data lives only on your device, you're always in full control of it. You can clear your clipboard history at any time from within the app (Settings → History → Clear History), or remove it entirely by uninstalling the app and deleting its Application Support folder.
Children's privacy
Izlio is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Since Izlio doesn't collect contact information, we won't be able to notify you directly — please check back here if you'd like to stay informed.
